Why Curve?
Curve is the sister store to Love, a Bridal Boutique and One Bridal! Our owners dreamed of a space where curvy brides could shop for their wedding dress without fear of sizing, options to try on, or any of the other worries that come along with shopping while mid or plus size. We believe women should never have to worry because of their size, especially during this special time in their lives! Love and One Bridal brought the best designers from their boutiques to Curve that specialize in fitting a curvy body, along with some brand-new exclusive designers like Studio Levana! Every single gown at Curve is sampled in a bridal size 18 – 38, meaning you won’t be told to “imagine what it looks like” or be uncomfortable trying on. Curve is Florida's ONLY exclusively curvy bridal boutique!
What sizes do you offer and have in store?
We opened Curve with a dream to shake up the bridal industry and give our beautiful brides the shopping experience they deserve! Most bridal stores sample the majority of their gowns in sizes 6,8,10 and only offer a small selection of gowns in sizes above a 14. Here at Curve, every single gown we have in store is sampled in a bridal size between 18-38. If you often wear "mid" or "plus" sizes, we are the perfect boutique for you! We have nearly 200 gowns in a variety of styles and shapes so you can explore what you feel best in. After you select the gown of your dreams, we place a special order with the designer and the gown will be made brand new, in your size! If you are shopping for a gown right off the rack, our expert stylists will be sure you find one that works great for you! We are proud to be Florida's ONLY exclusively curvy bridal boutique. If you typically wear a size 12 or below - we would love to help you at one of our sister stores, One Bridal or Love, a Bridal Boutique.
When should I start shopping for my dress?
We highly recommend having your venue booked / wedding date set before you begin the search for your dress! It is important to know your date as well as your location so you can envision your wedding’s overall feel, and to know your timeline. Our gowns are all made to order, by hand, and take anywhere from 4-6 months to arrive in store. Then you will need alterations to perfect the fit of your gown, and you’ll want to allow 2 months for this process! Of course, there are rush options, but as this incurs extra fees, it's best to avoid that if possible.
If your wedding is more than a year away, we typically recommend waiting a bit. After all styles and taste can change, and gowns can be discontinued. At Curve, we want to make sure you start your search when you are ready to say yes to the dress!
What price range are your gowns?
At Curve, our gowns range in price from $1,200-$4,000+. Most of our gowns will range $1,600-$2,500 with a lot of selection right around $2,000! Our gowns and accessories are all made to order by hand, and we are confident you will feel the difference in quality as soon as you try on your first dress! If you are hoping to stay around or under $1,200 please give us a call prior to booking so we can discuss those options with you.
We require a 60% deposit to order your gown, and the remainder is due 60 days after purchase!
Who should I bring with me? How many guests do you allow?
Shopping for your wedding dress is one of the times the saying “the more the merrier” does not apply! We highly recommend bringing just 2-3 guests with you. Hearing too many opinions can be overwhelming and at times frustrating, for even the most confident of brides. We also suggest telling your guests beforehand why they’ve been invited – to celebrate and support you as you find the gown you love! We do know though, that everyone is different and you may want to bring a larger group. We offer three appointment types to accommodate different group sizes. Our standard appointment allows you to bring up to 5 guests. Our standard appointment "extra guests" allows you to bring up to 7 guests. Our VIP appointment allows the max of 10 guests to come along with you! Questions? Give us a ring!
What should I bring with me to my appointment?
We like to make shopping for your dress as fun, relaxed, and easy as possible! You won’t need to bring much with you to your appointment to make that happen, you’re in great hands with our expert stylists. Most brides like to bring along a pair of their favorite shapewear, like spanx, and a strapless bra although it really isn’t necessary! If you happen to already have your exact shoes you’ll be wearing, it isn’t a bad idea to bring those along too. Other than that, just your most supportive friends + family and some photos for inspiration to show your stylist and you will be all set!
Can I bring children with me to my appointment?
While we are a family-friendly store, we host multiple appointments at a time. Although you will have your private bridal suite, children can be a distraction. We want to keep a quiet and intimate feel in our store for every single bride. In our experience, children get bored quickly, seeing dress after dress. As such, we strongly suggest you leave the children at home. If you do need to bring children along, we ask they are given a quiet form of entertainment and remain seated during the appointment.
Can I bring champagne to my appointment?
Who doesn’t love champagne?! We certainly do! While we do ask you don't bring along champagne or any food/drinks, we do provide a complimentary glass of champagne to you and your guests at the start of your appointment! We will also top you off to cheers when you say yes to the dress. In addition, we provide some bottled water for everyone! Questions? Give us a ring and lets chat!
How do alterations work? What should I budget for my alterations?
Our gowns are made to order, and we order you the closest size to your current measurements! Alterations are the magic step that perfect your gown and make it feel totally your own. We do not preform alterations here at Curve, like most bridal boutiques. We leave that to the expert seamstresses in our area, who we gladly refer you to once you pick up your dress!
We cannot provide you a quote for your alterations, as it all depends on what you’ll need done, how your gown fits when it arrives in, and who you choose to see for your alterations. On average however, we find that our brides spend about $500-$800 for their alterations. Alterations are a completely normal part of this process, so don’t be concerned that you’ll need things done when your gown arrives!
How can I clean and preserve my dress after my wedding?
After the champagne, the toasts, and hopefully a lot of dancing, you’ll want to get your gown cleaned/preserved as soon as possible! The longer stains set in, the harder they are to get out. Curve works closely with Oceanside Cleaners, a family owned and operated professional cleaner here in Jacksonville. They have an entire wedding gown department that is trained and nationally recognized in treating different fabrics and beadwork. They truly work magic! Visit their website here to learn more!
